ABOUT KORTO

Korto Muswell Hill is the result of a life-long dream of its two owners and friends, Paul and Russell. They couldn’t have come from more different working backgrounds. Paul, a trained chef and experienced restauranteur – having been part of the team that opened what was The Great Eastern Hotel – and Russ, a City escapee who wanted to take his Finance and Systems experience and combine it with his love of good food and wine.

What they both had in common from the start was a passion for excellence, building a great team, genuine customer service and fresh, wholesome food packed with flavour but without the Michelin Star price tag or stuffiness.

In 2013, finishing a Sunday morning run around Alexandra Palace, Paul spotted a great site that would be perfect for their vision of an all-day restaurant.
At the end of 2018, having completely gutted and refurbished what was previously The Muswell Hill Tandoori, Korto was born.

YOUR LOCAL NEIGHBOURHOOD RESTAURANT

At Korto Muswell Hill we provide old school hospitality in a relaxed, friendly and vibrant environment – a local restaurant situated in the heart of your neighbourhood. Grab breakfast, a coffee, have a snack, feed the children or indulge yourself with a delicious brunch or lunch using fresh and seasonal ingredients. We love our food and we’re inquisitive, seeking inspiration from the bold flavours of the Southern Mediterranean encompassing Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. We’ve always loved the way these flavours lend themselves to fresh, healthy dishes that nourish from the inside out.

Our vision has always been for Korto to be a place where anyone can come to feel comfortable and part of a community. We welcome families, couple and small groups – we’re also just as happy for you to bring your canine pals too. Yes, we’re dog friendly! It’s all about having somewhere you know you’ll be just as welcome enjoying a coffee after you’ve dropped the kids at school, a juice after that gym session, setting up your laptop on our work station, meeting the girls for lunch.

We do our best to cater for everyone at Korto, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options as well as our usual favourites with a Korto twist. Korto is a buzzy café. We’re open for breakfast every morning and serve brunch right through until 3pm.

A REFRESHING CHANGE

Our wine list is just as important too. Russell and Paul spend time sourcing (and drinking, of course!) the types of wine that suit our food. From a vegan Portuguese wine made, from indigenous grape varieties, by a New Zealander, to a beautiful smooth red from Provence, made without sulphur, or sparkling wine from the Kent countryside, we aim to provide an interesting, affordable wine list.

We have the same philosophy with our beers with a local London craft beer, a crisp Czech Pilsner, Pale Ale and IPA all by the can.

TAKE KORTO HOME

You’ve had a busy day, the kids are tired, you’ve got impromptu guests or you just feel like eating at home, no problem, just pop in and we’ll cook your chosen dishes fresh for you to take away. You can even grab a bottle of wine to take home with you too.

LIFE IS SHORT, DRINK THE COFFEE

Our speciality Fireheart Coffee is hand-roasted on the Korto premises, giving you the ultimate freshest coffee to go with your breakfast, brunch or any time of the day.

OUTSIDE SPACE

Grab a seat in the morning or afternoon sun at the front of Korto while you enjoy a coffee, juice, breakfast, Bruch or lunch.

VISITING ALLY PALLY?

Whilst not operating a normal schedule due to Covid 19, the fabulous Alexandra Palace is just a few minutes up the road, hosting a fantastic calendar of events, from the likes of comedian Jimmy Carr, SuperGrass to World Snooker and Darts. Alexandra Palace Theatre also recently opened, hosting names such as Ronnie Scotts and Michael Kiwanuka.

So, if you’re visiting Alexandra Palace, taking the kids to the large play park, boating on the lake, or just taking in the spectacular views across London, we can keep you fed and watered with our takeaway service.
